Abstract

  • Introduction: Urolithiasis is a common condition in the urological practice. Its surgical management has changed in recent years due to the advent of new technologies1. Given the rise of endourological techniques as a first-line treatment, robotic-assisted pyelolithotomy emerges as a minimally invasive alternative for selected cases of complex renal stone.

Case presentation: A 79-year-old male with a known pathological personal history of arterial hypertension and benign prostatic hyperplasia treated with transurethral resection of the bipolar prostate 6 months earlier and a diagnosis of predominantly pyelic partial coralliform lithiasis. A robotic-assisted pyelolithotomy (PAR) was performed using a Da Vinci Xi platform with a transperitoneal approach.

Results: The patient had a satisfactory postoperative course.

Conclusions: Robotic-assisted pyelolithotomy represents a safe and effective therapeutic option for the management of complex kidney stones, offering advantages in terms of surgical precision, postoperative recovery and functional results1.
